About us

Enable-Solihull is a user-led pan-disability organisation providing information and guidance for disabled people and carers as well as guidance to those providing a wide range of services.  It represents both service users and care and support organisations at a strategic level through membership of key Partnership Boards and committees.

The Service User Reference Committee engages with other service users and service providers of all types to encourage effective change to improve the quality of life by giving people more choice and control over the services they choose to access. In doing this it works very closely with other organisations and committees throughout the West Midlands. As an example, members of this group are on Birmingham International Airport’s Passengers with Reduced Mobility Committee where they are able to draw upon personal experiences to ensure that services are suitable for a wide range of disabilities.

The development of this web information portal is an extension of a report prepared for Solihull NHS Care Trust in 2009 by Enable-Solihull and it is a key element in giving people more choice and control over the services they use. Service users and carers are actively involved in developing this website and changes will be made to this site on an ongoing basis to reflect their recommendations.

The Care Development Committee is made up of key staff from a cross section of care provider organisations which operate in Solihull. Regular bi-monthly meetings allow for training, exchange of information and the development of best working practices, with service users and their carers’ key in their decisions.
